This 1st EU-ASEAN Aviation Summit was to enhance strategic dialogue between the EU and ASEAN, and discussed the benefits of promoting and building closer EU-ASEAN aviation relations. The summit was jointly organised by the European Commission Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as represented by the ASEAN Air Transport Working Group and the ASEAN Secretariat. It was hosted by the Government of Singapore.

The consisted of a series of presentations and discussions covering topics such as single aviation markets – EU and ASEAN experiences in integrating markets, removing barriers and regulating air transport, market outlook and business opportunities in the ASEAN, aviation
safety regulation and potential for cooperation, air traffic management challenges and opportunities.

Singapore Airshow 2014, one of the most important event in the region, was also interesting. with over 900 exhibitors from all over the world and of course many were from Europe. It was interesting to discover how the airshow can tap into the immense business opportunities in the Asia Pacific which is one of the fastest growing markets, setting new record deals at over US$31 billion.
